BBC recommissions Missing drama
The BBC has recommissioned the critically acclaimed drama Missing for 10 new episodes to be screened next year, making it twice the length of season one.
The second season of the daytime drama, starring Pauline Quirke as the head of a Missing Person's Unit, is now in production, filming in the south east of England and on location in Dover.
Liam Keelan, controller of BBC Daytime says: "We have seen how successful combining drama and factual programming has been in BBC Daytime - extending the run of Missing will create an even greater sense of event."
Alongside Pauline Quirke, Mark Wingett, Felix Scott and Pooja Shah return from the first series. The line up of guest stars includes former soap stars Roy Hudd, Brooke Kinsella and Gary Lucy.
The last series of the drama was shortlisted for a Mental Health Media Award for the portrayal of distress in the opening episode.
The show is produced by Julie Press of Sea Leopard, with Gerard Melling and James Burstall taking the role of executive producer for the BBC and Sea Leopard respectively.
